Use the new send button with pins on Web or mobile to help friends find inspiration too.
Digital scrapbooking service Pinterest is making it easier for
members to send their inspirational finds to friends who might also
enjoy them.
On Thursday, the company added a "Send" button
to pins on Web and mobile, which means members can click the button to
forward a pin to any of their Pinterest pals, Facebook friends, or email
contacts.
"Your friend will see the pin in their notifications
or in their email," software engineer Sunny Rochiramani wrote in a blog
post. "If they repin, like or comment on the pin, we'll let you know
through notifications, too."
Pinterest makes a popular Web and mobile service for collecting digital
items such as recipes, apparel, and redecorating ideas and saving these
items, called "pins," to boards. The send-to-friend option provides
people with a faster way to keep their buddies in the know when digital
inspiration strikes, and should also help stimulate repeat visits.
Previously, members could only send pins via e-mail and through a more
complex process.
The new feature joins a growing list of
little enhancements Pinterest has introduced over the past few months.
On Wednesday, the company rolled out a handy feature to alert members
when they're about to create a duplicate pin. Earlier in the week,
Pinterest gave its mobile applications a mini makeover and introduced features already popular on the Web. The company also recently redid its Web site to make pins bigger and more inspiring.
